Centenary Photos

Please enjoy Centenary Celebration photos from the day.

On Saturday 15 May 2021, the community, past and present, came together to celebrate the significant achievement of 100 years of education provided to the town of Northam and surrounding districts.

The foundation stone of the magnificent heritage listed building of Northam Senior High School was laid in 1920. In 1921, the delivery of education began in the first secondary school to be built in the Western Australian agricultural region.

On Saturday 15 May 2021, the community, past and present, came together to celebrate the significant achievement of 100 years of education provided to the town of Northam and surrounding districts.

Over 2000 ex-students, staff and community members reminisced and reconnected with each other and the school.

It is impossible to put a price on the value of a school such as Northam Senior High School. In providing continuous, quality education for 100 years, it has enabled generations of rural families to stay together instead of being separated by the necessity to seek education elsewhere.

Northam SHS has created young people who have stepped into key roles in many walks of life.

Currently, the school is preparing the next generation to do likewise, in facilities and with programs vastly different to those of students 100 years ago.

Northam Senior High School students, staff and community, remain connected in a profound way to the people, past and present, who have occupied the school and given it meaning.

Many have contributed to the success of the Centenary Celebration and I sincerely thank them all for their time and commitment.

I hope the memories of the Centenary Celebration remain precious to all who attended.
