Formal classes for Term 1 will finish on Friday 3 April 2020.Students who attend school in Week 10 (6 - 9 April) will be supervised in the school library. These students are those which have parents/carers who require attendance at school to maintain their employment or because of personal reasons.
Today, the Government has announced all public schools in Western Australia will remain open until the end of term – Thursday, 9 April 2020. However, families are now encouraged to keep their children at home if they have the capacity to do so.
Northam SHS is applying for Independent Public School (IPS) status. Being an IPS will allow Northam SHS to have greater autonomy and make decisions about and for our school, our students and our community.
As of Monday 3 February 2020, mobile phones, ear phones and other digital devices must be switched off and be out of sight for all students from the time they arrive to the conclusion of the school day (“off and away all day”).
Education Ministers met today and decided that NAPLAN will not proceed in 2020.
School Sport WA is contracted by the Department of Education to facilitate competitive sport in all WA schools. Through the Education Department COVID-19 Update today, all schools have been asked to review and reconsider non-essential gatherings of fewer than 500 people.
It is with deep regret the we advise that the Year 12 School Ball to be held on Friday 3 April 2020 will be postponed.
