Students

The school supports such initiatives as “Student Code of Conduct” and a “Good Standing Policy” and our actions are guided by four core values; learning, excellence, equity and care.

In stating these values, we acknowledge that these words alone are not sufficient. It is the actions based on these values that are important.

CORE VALUES
Learning:
A positive approach to learning that is encouraged in others; all students have the capacity to gain knowledge and skills.

Excellence:
High expectations of students and staff which results in high standards of academic and social achievement.

Equity:
Recognition of the differing circumstances and needs of all students and dedication to achieving the best possible outcomes for all.

Care:
Relationships based on trust, mutual respect and responsibility; recognition of the value of working in partnership with students and the wider community.

Northam Senior High School students are expected to adhere to the school’s Code of Conduct.
This includes:

  • Being punctual to, and attending all classes
  • Compliance with school rules and uniform policy
  • Making positive contributions to the school community
  • ‘Catching up’ on work missed during any absence
  • Submitting all assignments on time and abiding by the school’s assessment policy
A student’s Good Standing is dependent on their adhesion to the Code of Conduct. Good Standing, and the maintenance as such, allows a range of benefits for the student. These include extra curricular activities such as the School Ball, Country Week and Interschool carnivals, eligibility for School Prefect nominations, the opportunity to represent the school in outside events and the ability to gain a school reference.
